Extract Audio From Video Online as a WAV File

To prepare a dub you often need the sound on its own: replaying a line in a loop to work on the intonation, comparing your take with the original in an audio editor, or keeping a reference while you adapt the script.

This tool will extract the audio from a video (MP4 or MOV) and save it as a WAV file, an uncompressed audio format that opens in every editing app (Audacity, Reaper, video editors). The sound is decoded at its original sample rate and stays stereo if it was. A WAV file is bigger than an MP3, about 10 MB per minute in stereo, but it loses no further quality when you edit it.

Your video never leaves your device: it is processed right in your browser, with no upload and no sign-up.

How it works

  1. 1

  2. 2

Start the extraction: the soundtrack is decoded by your browser.

  3. 3

Listen to the result, then download the WAV file.

Need a rythmo band?

BandeRythmo transcribes the dialogue and generates a rythmo band, a scrolling dubbing script synced to your video. The Studio is there if you then want to record your own voice, solo or with others.

Frequently asked questions

Why WAV and not MP3?

WAV does not recompress the sound, so it is the safest format to edit afterwards. You can convert it to MP3 in any audio editor if you need to.

Are the voices separated from the music?

No. The tool extracts the full soundtrack exactly as it is in the video.

Is there a length limit?

It depends on your device's memory. A 10-minute video produces a WAV of about 100 MB, which a computer handles without trouble.
