Detect Silence in Audio and Video, Export Timestamps
Before you write an adaptation or prepare a dubbing script, you need to know where the lines are: when each character starts speaking, when they stop, and where the breaths fall. This job, called spotting in the studio, takes a long time by hand.
This tool analyzes the soundtrack of a video or audio file and will detect silence in it. It then builds a list of lines of speech with their start, end and duration, which you can copy as text or download as an SRT file to open in a subtitling app. Three settings let you adapt the detection to your scene: the volume treated as silence, the minimum length of a pause, and a padding added around each line.
Detection is based on volume, so loud music or constant background noise can hide the pauses. It does not transcribe the words. Your video never leaves your device: it is processed right in your browser, with no upload and no sign-up.
Your file never leaves your device: everything is processed in your browser.
How it works
- 1
Choose a video (MP4, MOV) or an audio file.
- 2
Adjust the silence threshold and the minimum pause length if needed.
- 3
Copy the list of lines, or download it as an SRT file.
Need a rythmo band?
BandeRythmo transcribes the dialogue and generates a rythmo band, a scrolling dubbing script synced to your video. The Studio is there if you then want to record your own voice, solo or with others.

Does it transcribe the words?
No. The tool only finds when someone is speaking and when it is quiet. To get synced text, use the BandeRythmo editor, which transcribes the dialogue automatically.
Too many lines are split in two. What should I do?
Increase the minimum pause length: short breaths will no longer cut sentences in half.
No speech is detected?
Music or background noise is probably above the threshold. Raise the silence threshold, for example from -40 dB to -30 dB.
