Convert SRT to VTT Online (and VTT or ASS to SRT)

Every video tool has a favorite subtitle format. SRT is the most widespread and plays almost everywhere. VTT (WebVTT) is the format of web video players and many video platforms. ASS is used by advanced subtitling software and many fandub projects, because it supports styles and on-screen positioning.

When you prepare a dub, you often get a script in one format and need it in another: to review it in a player, import it into an editor, or share it with the team. This converter turns SRT into VTT (and back, or to ASS) while keeping the start and end time of every line and its line breaks. ASS styles such as colors, fonts and positions are not carried over to SRT or VTT, which do not support them: only the text is kept.

Everything happens in your browser: no file is ever sent to a server.

Need a rythmo band?

BandeRythmo transcribes the dialogue and generates a rythmo band, a scrolling dubbing script synced to your video. The Studio is there if you then want to record your own voice, solo or with others.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between SRT and VTT?

They are very close. A VTT file starts with a WEBVTT header, uses a period instead of a comma for milliseconds, and can include positioning settings. SRT numbers each subtitle.

Are ASS styles kept?

Not when converting to SRT or VTT: those formats have no styles, so only the text is kept. When converting to ASS, a clean default style is applied.

Is there a file size limit?

No practical one. Subtitles for a full feature film convert instantly, right in your browser.
